In 1981 I read THE EPIC OF GILGAMESH.

In 1992 through Providence a free verse retelling of it gushed from me.

I gave a copy to several friends.

One of them was the legendary blacklisted journalist Al Aronowitz. Al said, “GILGAMESH made me tingle.”

Another was John Herbert, the author of FORTUNE AND MEN’S EYES. John said, “GILGAMESH is magical. Very, very powerful.”

Another was John Robert Colombo who sent me a note saying, “I did not think free verse suited to the epic form. When I started it I did not think I would like it but you pulled it off. The naked flesh has been returned to the bare bones of the epic. You have traveled the hero’s journey to the darkside of existence. The sexual scenes are suitably barbaric. GILGAMESH is better than anything written by the half dozen people who regularly win prizes for poetry in Canada.”

Another was Judith Merril, the mother of modern speculative/science fiction. Judy said, “GILGAMESH is a page turner. I could not put it down.”

Since 1992 hundreds of people have read my GILGAMESH and said, “Thank you.”

This program is dedicated to Peter Sumadh who enriched my life as much or more than Enkidu enriched the life of GILGAMESH.
