In 2009 the posters in the video above appeared on every available surface in the City of Toronto.

Terry Ross, the subject of the posters, used to pass out flyers at the corner of Queen Street and Spadina for King Textiles. He also handed out material for Active Surplus on Queen Street.

He put up posters for me briefly. Then he told me he had been hired by a drug dealer to post flyers. Now not only could he not post for me part of his job was to tear down my flyers.

He had given me no reason to help him. He had given me every reason not to.

The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.

I bought my first video camera, filmed the posters and contacted the police, City of Toronto Councillors, the Mayor’s office, journalists, newspaper people, MPPs, MPS, everyone.

All but one person said there was nothing they could do.

That one person was in the office of Toronto’s then Mayor David Miller.

The posters slandering Terry stopped.

Then in 2012 posters went up everywhere around Toronto slandering myself and others.

in 2017 that man was arrested, charged with Criminal Harassment and released on condition he neither possess nor post anything related to myself.

Those conditions ended after two years.

The time since then has been a nightmare.

I have warned people about speaking directly to the man.

Last Thursday, March 24, a friend ignored that warning. On Friday, March 25 he found posters up slandering him.

Slander, for those of you who say you are religious, is the one unforgivable sin.

For those of you who are not religious slander is despicable.

Terry Ross died a couple of years ago. To his death he had people threatening his life because they thought him a police informant.

He wasn’t.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Worse than the words of our enemies is the silence of our friends.”

For those of you who say you are religious you should know that THE BIBLE says that while GOD will punish evil doers it also says that GOD will kill forever those of us who by our silence empower them.

The posters going up around Toronto say I am facing charges.

I am not.

The charges were faced. The charges were withdrawn. Not only that a search of the computers and hard drives seized in this house not only revealed no evidence of the downloaded file that brought the police here. After  forensic analysis was conducted on the devices seized from my residence no evidence was located on the devices related to child pornography being made available over a peer-to-peer network.

Evidence is found on the utility poles and street poster kiosks of Toronto that a vicious slanderer is at work.

The man says he is a Jehovah’s Witness.

That does not stop him from being so low that the hand of God reaching down into the mire could not raise him to the depths of degradation.

There is only one thing lower.

That is those who choose to do nothing.

Every year the media publishes stories about the rise of bike theft in Toronto:  , , .

People have found their stolen bikes at his back alley used bike sales.

A man who dos not hesitate to slander others with thousands of street posters including past employees is not going to hesitate over stolen bikes.

“Someone ought to do something, but why should I? Someone ought to do something, so why not I? Between these two sentences lie whole centuries of moral evolution.” ― Annie Besant.

Annie Besant was an Atheist. She states the great question perfectly.

Each of us follows our nature.

Those who by nature are scum will do what scum does.

They will say, “This storm will blow over,” “I don’t want to get involved,” “It is not my responsibility.”

This storm has been raging for over twenty years. It is our responsibility.

One man wrote that the city of Toronto sees Reg Hartt as a nuisance.

The city of New York saw Jane Jacobs as a nuisance.

Jane Jacobs’ son Jim says to to me often, “My mother loved you.”

I tell him, “I loved your mother.”

People who study her great book THE DEATH AND LIFE OF GREAT AMERICAN CITIES often say they have trouble understanding it.

I said to Jim, “The reason people have trouble understanding your mother’s book is because she wrote it from the perspective of the dirt poor.”

Said Jim, “You’re right.”

Walking through my door Ed Keenan, one of the best journalists in Canada, said, “Reg, you are the only man in Toronto who stands up.”

That is not true. There are always people who stand up. The thing is, there are never enough.

One of the posters put up slandering me asked the question, “What would Jane Jacobs do?”

She would see that this man’s sorry ass was put where it belongs.

Join me in putting it there.

Send me $100 today to help in this fight. I will send you an autographed copy of my book, THE NIGHT THEY RAIDED ROCHDALE.

Not many people got a fan letter from Jane Jacobs. I got several.

Stand with me today. Help me end bike theft in Toronto and this hate filled bullshit on our city streets.

It is time to send  the man behind this anonymous hate a message he can not ignore.

That message is that his message is not welcome anywhere in this world.

For Jane Jacobs the best part of what I offered is what I have to say.

She is not alone. –Send your donations today to: Reg Hartt, 463 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario, M5T 2S9.

People have found their stolen bikes at James Gillis’ lane way bike sales the same day they were stolen.
