Kids see these wonderful films and many want to make films like them. They are full of fire when they see them. They ask how these are done. They are told, “By animators.” Then they go to animation school. Wrong move. Animators are pencils. So are writers and directors. The hand that uses them belongs to the producer. After spending years in animation schools they come out looking for jobs. They learn that the wonderful days in which films like these were made are long past. Kids, you don’t want to be animators, writers or directors. You must be producers. Then use directors, writers and animators as your pencils. The people who made these wonderful films did not, could not go to school. What they did had never been done before. States writer, director, producer David Mamet, “Stay out of school.” I’m with Mamet. Those people are all looking for work. You be the person who gives them work.
