The charges reported in the stories in both THE TORONTO SUN and THE TORONTO STAR were repeated and commented upon all over the world.
Not reported (except for a small statement added at the start of the piece in THE STAR is that those charges were withdrawn after a thorough search of the computers and hard drives seized in Hartt’s home revealed no evidence to support them.

THE TORONTO SUN and THE TORONTO STAR did and do a tremendous disservice to the Canadian public and to the world at large.
Unfortunately, they are not alone.
It helps to know that of THE TORONTO STAR Jane Jacobs said, “I hate that paper.”
As for THE TORONTO SUN, it has been a bastion of yellow journalism from its inception.
The truth has no home in either THE SUN or THE STAR.
The charges against Hartt were based entirely on falsehoods and lies.
The City of Toronto ought to be ashamed.
Of course, it isn’t.
