THUNDERBEAN continues its fine work restoring animated cartoons that help us appreciate the wonderful vitality of the form when theatres regularly offered them on the program.
These excellent restorations are a real treat. Treat yourself to them. Looking for a treat for a friend for Christmas? Look no farther.–Reg Hartt
Description
Cubby Bear returns again in this new Blu-ray from Thunderbean! In the early 1930’s, Mickey Mouse was the king of cartoons; predictably, every studio attempted to capture some of the same success. The Van Beuren Studio chose Cubby Bear, who appeared in 20 cartoons between 1933 and 1934. Created by studio animator Mannie Davis, these charming cartoons are among the best the studio ever produced. They feature surreal gags, crazy animation and great jazzy soundtracks! Presented here are all 20 Cubby Bear cartoons including three produced by the Harman/Ising studio. They are presented in new HD transfers, restored from the best film elements available. Released in the Aesop’s Fables series from van Beuren.
