A friend from New York is coming to Toronto. He has asked to see D. W. Griffith’s THE BIRTH OF A NATION (1915) with the compositional collage I created for it after meeting with Bernard B. Brown who, at 16, played first violin in the orchestra which accompanied the picture throughout its original run at Clune’s Auditorium in in 1915 in Los Angeles.
There is room for 12 more people.
THE BIRTH OF A NATION was the first motion picture shown at top Legit Theatre prices which, in 1915, was $2 (see attached below).
This very limited presentation is minimum donation $100 which is what people pay to see a show at THE ROYAL ALEXANDRA THEATRE in Toronto today.
Said Shirley Hughes of THE TORONTO SILENT FILM SOCIETY, “Reg Hartt has a real feel for movie music. No one on earth scores silent films better.”
You will not see this presentation at THE REVUE,THE FOX, THE PARADISE or Cineplex.
You can see this special, unique presentation only at The CineForum in Toronto which Brit Painter Peter Moore calls, “the best place on earth in which to see a movie.” https://www.artisgallery.eu/pm/.
« Rob Salem, “Reg Hartt is completely and categorically insane in addition to being brilliant. I’d hate to see someone who went to The CineForum not knowing what they were in for.” Stuff to inspire. »
