Something every one must see.
Start with NASHTHESLASH. I asked NASH to accompany the great JOHN HENRY NYENHUIS ( https://www.playrecords.net/music.php?artist=john-henry-nyenhuis ) when I brought the legendary FOREST J ACKERMAN (Editor of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND to Toronto in 1991. John Henry performed live on piano the compositional collage I created for NOSFERATU which features the macabre music of the world’s greatest composers.
On Saint Saens DANSE MACABRE we needed a violin. I thought, “Who better than NASHTHESLASH?” Nash was, as always , wonderful. After that performance he rightfully picked up the ball and did his own thing. Nash was a great artist.
Next THE PARADISE is one of Toronto’s finest theaters. The setting is perfect. Gary Topp has been responsible for so much that is good in this city’s alternate scene that it is always a pleasure to honour him. We have had our disagreements because we have different views but the long term view is what matters, Gary has been there for so many of the city’s young talents, NASH being one of them, he deserves a medal just for that.
Finally, THE TORONTO SILENT FILM SOCIETY is doing great work. It is always a pleasure to support them.–Reg Hartt
