The Legacy Blu-ray of THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON ought to have been a cause for celebration.

It isn’t.

Universal commissioned THE 3D FILM ARCHIVE to do a restoration of REVENGE OF THE CREATURE. As usual a first class restoration was produced. Then they released the film in a low quality format that leaves much to be desired.

The studio also passed on the chance to do a restoration for the ages on THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, a title the studio is justly proud of: http://www.3dfilmarchive.com/an-in-depth-look-at-creature-from-the-black-lagoon-1      .

There is a huge amount of interest in these films. There are an enormous number of reasons why a first rate release of these titles ought to be done.

THE CREATURE deserves better. We deserve better. Universal Studios deserves better.
