If the faith we practice is to be something more than sitting in a church/synagogue/temple than we must stand with Maryam Monsef.
I don’t call myself a Christian primarily because the Christians I have met miss the mark by miles.
Jesus calls us to love those who do evil to us.
That, on the best of days, is not easy.
Nor is it meant to be.
We are in an election climate.
That means people opposed to the party she represents are attacking her for her remarks.
Shame on them.
Recognizing them as brothers is not turning a blind eye to their actions. Nor is it standing by and doing nothing.
But it is recognizing we are one family.
Everyone in a family knows that families fight.
What is happening now in Afghanistan is terrible.
It seems like the Students (the word “Taliban” means “student’) are going to be in charge.
This means the rest of the world, you and I, is going to have to learn to live with them.
As we watch people scrambling to get out because their support of America, of Canada has put their lives in dire peril we must not ignore the message being sent out to peoples everywhere.
What is that message?
It is that America lacks the commitment to see the fight through to victory.
The number one rule in Sun Tzu’s THE ART OF WAR is do not get involved in a protracted battle.
Rome fell because good folks lacked the stomach for the fight.
The fall of Rome plunged the world into darkness.
We are on the precipice of such a fall now.
David has slain Goliath.
America with all its might has shown itself it can be defeated.
Don’t fault anyone who remembers we are called to do good to those who do evil to us.
I don’t like to see women being plunged back into the oppression we had promised to free them from.–Reg Hartt
