When I went to different churches in Toronto I was told, “Don’t come back.” There is an old saying. “The nearer the church/synagogue/temple the farther from Allah/The Buddha/God.”
At one church when I said, “A man’s reach should exceed his grasp,” quoting Browning, the congregation and the minister as one shouted, “WE WON’T HAVE THAT HERE!” I never got to, “Or what’s a Heaven for?” I was physically grabbed and kicked out the door.
I flagged a passing cab.
“What happened there?” asked the driver.
After I told him he said, “My God, they are all losers.”
Yes, they are.
In the strongest translation of Luke 18: 8 I have read Jesus said, “Do you think when I return I will find so much as one person believing?”
I see the growing lack of belief around the world as a sign that moment is drawing nearer. When HE returns there will not be so much as one person believing.
A few years back a fellow walked in who looked like his plug had been pulled. I said, “What’s up?” He said, “The people I am living with said they can’t live with me.”
I said, “I have room for you.”
After a few months I said to him, “Do me a favour. Tell the people who said they could not live with you ‘Thank you’ for me.
When City of Toronto brought its hammer down to crush this place and I was taken into custody that man stood up. He took charge. He saved me. He saved this place.”
GOD had brought him to me for that purpose.
We are called to do good to those who do us evil. Why?
Because if I return evil with evil I become an evil doer.
Canada’s national newspaper, THE GLOBE AND MAIL, documented the anonymous hatred myself and others in Toronto have endured and continue to endure.
In THE BIBLE GOD states, “If you see evil being done and do nothing I will punish the evil doer but you I will destroy.”
Why? Because people who see evil being done and stand by doing nothing are the greatest evil of all. That’s not just me saying that. That is not just THE BIBLE or GOD saying that. It is many others many of whom got killed for standing up. That number includes Albert Einstein, Edmund Burke, Martin Luther King, Jr., Jane Jacobs, a legion of valiant men and women.
“You have the wrong attitude. You will starve to death in two weeks if you leave this school today,” I was told by my high school principal.
Had I not left right the second I was told that I was told that I would have starved.
As a result of leaving I have met many remarkable men and women I would not otherwise have. Three of them are Judith Merril, the mother of modern SF, Doris Mehegan, who ran the Judith Merril libray (now THE MERRIL COLLECTION), and Jane Jacobs, author of THE DEATH AND LIFE OF GREAT AMERICAN CITIES and DARK AGE AHEAD. Mrs. Jacobs stated, “Dark ages come when people forget.” All three were atheists. They said, “When we see evil being done and do nothing we kill a part of our self.”
Not God. Us.
Jane’s kids tell me, “Our mother loved you.”
That is one helluva wonderful thing to hear.
“I went to many universities. Not one of my teachers ever mentioned Jane Jacobs,” wrote a man.
As if somehow their ignorance of this woman matters.

From the age of six I was called queer.
In 1980 I saw a copy of the magazine PSYCHOLGY TODAY with the words, “The value of the Homosexual Experience” on the cover.
I read it. The article stated that homosexual people either accept the world’s comdenation and destroy themselves through alcohol, drugs and ses (the majority) or center themselves and learn to think for themselves.
This is something everyone must do. It is also something our education systems are designed to keep from happening. David Mamet: “The educational process prepares those with second-rate intellects to thrive in a bureaucratic environment. Obedience, rote memorization, and neatness are enshrined as intellectual achievements.”
Yes, they are.
If we walk away from this process of assimilation we shall be called QUEER. Why? Because we are not like the people who consent to become part of what STAR TREK calls THE BORG.
As the oyster makes its pearl out of that which irritates it so we make the pearl of our life out of that which irritates us.
The people who have been and continue to slander myself and others want us to strike back. Why? Because they can use this to justify their actions.
The strongest defence, the strongest offence to hate is to turn the other cheek.
“Be still, Vengeance is mine. I will repay.”–Deuteronomy 32:35.
When I refuse to leave vengenance to God I fall into the trap my enemy has set.
This is why I leave vengeance to HE to whom it belongs.
You do the same.
I am going to have a wonderful New Year.
We build our physical bodies by lifting weights.
I build my spiritual body the same way.
We who do this can not be defeated.
