I like Geoff but he is typical of many journalists in that he is lazy.
He wrote a piece published in THE STAR on D. W. Griffith and THE BIRTH OF A NATION (1915) that both reflected the conventional line today and also had more holes in it than Swiss Cheese.
Geoff never published a recanting of the errors in his piece, one of which was attributing GONE WITH THE WIND to Edna Ferber, the author of SHOWBOAT. GONE WITH THE WIND was written by Margaret Mitchell.
