I grew up with the classic red trunks SUPERMAN. MAN OF STEEL dismayed me because the red trunks were gone from the costume. That threw me off. When I bought the 3D Blu-ray and watched the film again it was Henry Cavill’s performance that sold me on the picture. I liked the two follow up films as well (count me in the minority, I guess). It is a shame that Cavill will not be returning in the role as he has much to offer. I would not be surprised if the recent on again, off again has soured him completely. There is no good reason a project with Cavill could not have been initiated along with one featuring a younger version of the character. Charles Beaumont, a great writer, described working in the movies as akin to climbing a mountain of feces to smell a rose. In not accepting the challenge of a Superman movie with Cavill the new management at DC have been less than super. Too bad.
