Fruit from David Gerrold’s tree: David Gerrold’s Post

David, as a very young man, authored the STAR TREK episode: THE TROUBLE WITH TRIBBLES.
This is from his Facebook page. We are brothers.

“For most of two thousand years, one message echoed through the Western church: women, be silent. This was not presented as tradition. It was presented as the will of God, older than argument, beyond question.

One woman decided to check the original words for herself.

Her name was Rosemary Radford Ruether. She came of age in mid-20th century America, in a home that was more free-thinking than strict, but she entered a field — academic theology — that was almost entirely male. When she looked around the seminaries and the lecture halls in the 1960s, she noticed something odd. Half the human race seemed to be missing from its own religious history.

So she went back. Not to commentaries. Not to sermons passed down through the centuries. She went to the oldest manuscripts, the original Greek, the layer beneath a thousand years of translation choices made mostly by men.

And there, sitting quietly in plain sight, were the women.

Paul’s letter to the Romans names a woman called Phoebe, using the Greek word diakonos — deacon. When that same word describes a man elsewhere in scripture, it stays “”deacon.”” When it describes Phoebe, generations of translators quietly softened it to “”servant.””

The same letter names Junia as outstanding among the apostles. Centuries later, a copyist decided a woman could not have held that title, and her name was rewritten as “”Junias”” — a man who, as far as anyone can tell, never existed.

Priscilla is shown teaching a respected preacher named Apollos, correcting his understanding of the faith. Her name is listed first, ahead of her husband’s — a small detail, but in the writing conventions of the time, small details like that signaled who held more standing.

And Mary Magdalene was the first person to see the empty tomb and the first to carry the news to the others. Early Christian writers had a title for her: apostola apostolorum. The apostle to the apostles.

None of this was hidden in obscure fragments. It was sitting in the main text, in plain Greek, waiting.

Ruether held it up and asked the question no one in power wanted asked out loud: if silence is God’s law for women, why does the earliest record of the faith show women teaching, leading, and announcing the most important news in the entire story?

The reaction was not gentle. She was called a pagan wearing a Catholic mask. She lost a teaching post after publishing a critical essay. Decades later, a university that had offered her a professorship quietly withdrew it. She was accused, again and again, of trying to tear the whole tradition down.

She wasn’t tearing it down. She was trying to hand back something she believed had been taken — the memory of a community, in its first and rawest form, where a woman’s voice was not an exception to be explained away.

Over the next six decades, she kept going. She wrote more than three dozen books, tying the same thread through everything — the same logic used to silence women, she argued, was the logic used to justify dominating the earth, colonizing distant peoples, and dismissing anyone standing outside the circle of power. One idea, dressed up in a hundred different justifications: those on top always claim heaven put them there.

She trained the next generation of scholars, pastors, and researchers, and they carried her questions into their own pulpits and classrooms, long after the people who dismissed her had moved on to dismissing someone else.

Rosemary Radford Ruether died in 2022, at 85 years old, having spent her whole working life on one long argument.

Today there are women preaching from pulpits and leading congregations in denominations that once would have called it impossible. That space did not open on its own. Scholars like Ruether spent decades prying it open, one footnote at a time.

Phoebe was called a deacon. It was right there in the letter the whole time. It just took someone stubborn enough, for long enough, to insist that the church actually read its own words.

If you were ever told that your silence was God’s will, and some part of you never fully believed it — the record suggests you were allowed to doubt it all along.

The words were never erased. They were only ever mistranslated.

Someone just had to go back and read them again.”

Reg Hartt reply:

This is why I constantly research. The Koine (Common) Greek and Latin Vulgate (Vulgar, Common) language Testament is the language of what is commonly called,”the gutter.”

There is a reason for that. Jesus came from the gutter. Contrary to Victor Wren God did comment. Deuteronomy 30: 14. The word is in my heart. It is on my tongue. I need neither Pope nor Priest: I AM.

We do not need THE BIBLE nor do we need THE KORAN. Nor do we need a teacher: 1 John 2:27. Nor should I allow myself to be called teacher: Matthew 23:8-10. I AM THAT I AM. “Every Christian is to become a little Christ. The whole purpose of becoming a Christian is simply nothing else.”― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity: I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE/I AM THAT I AM BECOMING. Take out the word little. There is nothing little about being anointed. As important as it is to know the word it is more important to TRUST it.

Reg Hartt Please explain how there was a Pope before Catholicism became a thing? Seems like a mistranslation… or was it some prior secular or Jewish office title?

Bill Davis It really does not matter, Bill. You concern yourself with trifles.

The word “Pope” comes from “Abba” which is the word Jesus (Yeshua, if you will) used to address G*D. It is the child’s word for Father. In English it is, “Poppa.” Peter was given the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. The Papacy descends from Peter. The Jewish authorities absolutely hated Jesus (Yeshua, if you will) for no just cause. When they threw stones on him he said, “For what reason do you stone me?” they replied, “Because you call G*D ‘poppa’ and this make yourself equal to G*D.”

Conventional Christianity states Jesus (Yeshua, if you will) is the only begotten child of G*D. However John states John 1–14, “To those who receive him, even to those who believe on his name, Jesus (Yeshua, if you will) , gives the power to become begotten children of GOD. Our birth is not by flesh, blood, nor the will nor power of man but by GOD.” I am equal to GOD. You don’t have to be a Christian to be loved by GOD. Everyone who loves GOD and does good is loved by GOD: 1 John 4:7-11, Acts 10.

What baffles me is how SF writers can write about beings with the power to walk into a transformer beam and materialize elsewhere and not ask the great WHAT IF? What if we are something more than we ever dreamed of?

The answer is, we are something much more than we ever dreamed of.

But most will not trust the word in their (my) heart and on their (my) tongue thus in them the seed can not grow. I am boldly going where all are called to go. One thing place I don’t go is to “church.” My church has the Heavens for its throne and the earth for its footstool.

And, yes, in the eyes of convention what I state here is blasphemy.

To those who heard Jesus speak what they heard they said was blasphemy.

George Bernard Shaw, “All great truths begin as blasphemies.”

You would know this if you did your homework.

In ZEN the Master sends the student who asks questions backwards with a good, hard slap. It’s called a Zen slap. I’m giving you one.

One night a Tibetan Lama, Jerzy Zaborski (an archaeologist, Egyptologist, Sumerologist famous for discovering the Egyptians had commerce with the Americas long before the Vikings) came to my presentation on GILGAMESH.

After hearing me Jerzy said, “People can learn here.”

I said, “Some do. Most don’t.”

He said, “You are a Crazy-Wisdom-Yogin.”

I said, “I hear crazy often enough. Before I slug you want does the rest of that mean?”

Jerzy said, “That you are living absolutely the life you are teaching. It is the highest compliment I, as a Buddhist, can give.”

I said, “I know how far below the mark I fall however it is the only way I know to learn. Everything else is nonsense. Would you care for a beer?”

Fortunately, he did.

Even more fortunately I had a two-four.

Jesus of Nazareth was gutter trash from “buttfuck Galilee” (Thomas Cahill, DESIRE OF THE EVERLASING HILLS. Galileans dropped their aitches. That was the accent by which Peter was recognized after he denied Jesus three times.

INRI which stands for the Latin phrase Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, which translates to “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews” can alsi be rendered, “Ignis Naturalis Regeneratis Ignis” which is Fire (Light, energy) made flesh reborn as Fire (Light/energy).

This is compatible with Einstein’s formula e=mc2.

I. myself, am living light.

I don’t need the Pope or a priest or Jordan Peterson.

Neither does anyone else.

Jordan Peterson needs to stop presenting himself where no one should.

He is blocking the way.

Hanta Yo!

I AM MY OWN LIGHT.–Reg Hartt 14/09/2026.

THE BILE teaches that if I have faith it is GOD’S Will. It teaches if I lack faith, that is GOD’s will. This so none may boast. THE BIBLE also states GOD made everything from nothing. Everything DID come from nothing. The atheist is right about that.
